Genus Cryptodifflugia Penard, 1890

Diagnosis: Shell flask- or egg-shaped, circular or compressed in cross-section, with adhering foreign particles or smooth surface; nucleus vesicular; cyst in test, with mucous plug.

Ecology: feeding on bacteria and yeast. Fresh water, soil and mosses.
